Rudolf Hoss, the commandant of Auschwitz, celebrates his birthday with his wife and children in their house with a pool and garden located beside the concentration camp.

The Zone of Interest is bold filmmaking, cited in a horrific setting of war but related from an unexpected perspective to create an experience that is equal parts compelling and disturbing. Outrage for the holocaust is all but universal, and indifference to the torment suffered is unimaginable. The director took the script and pointed the camera squarely at the players, zooming in without blinking and creating a film able to induce a visceral reaction in audiences - your blood may run cold.
