The Bookshop

Set in the late 1950s, a window moves to small English town and opens a bookshop but finds herself battling against the local society doyenne.

The talented cast is the best thing about "The Bookshop", and they're a pleasure to watch but let down by a storyline that fails to resemble interesting. This is a quintessentially English story complete with tea and scones, it's a shame that it's all a tad dusty and fusty. There's a jolly good dose of a chin-up and a carry-on-regardless attitude, but insufficient to connect us with the bookseller. Read the book.
