Romantic Road

30 years after travelling across India with backpacks, an eccentric English couple return to do the journey in a vintage Rolls Royce.

The documentary has a charming tone if you can imagine a trek where your biggest problem is that the car won't start. The filmmakers are oblivious travellers taking their privilege for granted, there's no mention of any reparation owed or deserved. It seems the British can pick up where they left off, giving a nod to the hair-raising conditions on local roads and merrily tootling past a litany of pressing social problems with uncomfortable indifference. It's hardly spiffing old chap.
