Prison 77

Drama History

Based on real events after the fall of Franco, Modesto prison remains a cruel place to be incarcerated, where the prisoners revolt, calling for political amnesty and reform.

"Prison 77" is set in what was the real prison of the protagonists, lending an uncanny sense of realism to the political neglect within its walls. The relationships between inmates are tense, but those with guards are worse, and corruption is rife. Scenes involving physical brutality are difficult to watch and almost as worse as the inherent injustice of life on the inside. The story is compelling, as parts of a country emerging from fascism are entrenched in their ways and reluctant to change. Go directly to jail, do not pass go.
