Alexei Navalny was an anti-corruption activist who lived in full knowledge that his life was in danger as he stood against Russia's dictator and refused to back down.

Framed as a political thriller, "Navalny" is a taut watch, and all the more so because the story is non-fiction. We're provided with a glimpse of a great leader, courageous, self-effacing and humorous - at the hands of someone who purports to greatness, narcissistic and controlling. This well-crafted documentary mixes interviews with fly-on-the-wall scenes to great effect and is unexpectedly moving as a battle of good against evil. You're not allowed to give up.
