Monkey Man is a tale of revenge, dripping in blood. This production is at its best when the superbly choreographed, gruesome fight sequences unfold, utilising any and every makeshift weapon possible. The cinematography is frantic, making each fight, chase and action sequence feel fraught with danger, and the leading man is a standout as he single-handedly carves a path of destruction through his enemies' worlds. What holds this film back is the pacing of the plot - some story points meander for long stretches, not really adding anything to the overall narrative. Blessings from my mother.
