Mary Poppins Returns

With the Banks siblings in dire need, their magical nanny returns to save the day.

Mary Poppins returns, but she should have stayed in the clouds; this sequel is a large disappointment. It tries to recreate the magic of the original, but simply feels like a lazy exercise in mimicking ideas that made its predecessor so groundbreaking, and the result is underwhelming. The music is forgettable, and the moral compass once so crucial to the franchise is drastically wayward. The delectable cast do their best with the material at hand, but even their enormous talent struggle to make this entertaining viewing. The wind has changed.
