Love & Friendship

Lady Susan Vernon is a widow trying to find a suitable husband for her daughter Frederica, and for herself.

The standout element of "Love and Friendship" is the dialogue which is sharp, witty, and delivered at a cracking pace. Manners are observed and rules are broken; in terms of action, it's the women who play the winning hands. When one is in want of a husband there is little room for romance. This movie is both elegant and enormously funny thanks to the eye and irreverence of the director. What's love got to do with it?
