Lady Bird

Comedy Drama

A story centred upon the tempestuous relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter.

"Lady Bird" is an indie coming-of-age film replete with witty, caustic humour and a bittersweet whimsy. Our leading lady (bird) delivers a standout performance in what is a brilliantly convincing portrayal of the turbulent transition from adolescence to adulthood. The director has clearly lent an insightful touch to her debut, imparting an authentic voice with only the slightest ounce of contrivance. It's both refreshing and rare to enjoy a tale of teen-angst that ditches the hipster cynicism in favour of a more sincere approach. Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home.
