Kubo and the Two Strings

Kubo must embark on a special quest to find a magical suit of armour.

"Kubo and the Two Strings" might be a dark and original conception, but it's oh so boring. There's no questioning the stunning stop-motion animation, which provides delight in every single frame. Sadly, there's only a few thrilling action sequences to accompany the painstaking visuals before the film descends into the formulaic. Talking animals provide the butt of the laughter, but even their jokes are tried and familiar. Doesn't quite hit all the right notes.
