Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold
Documentary
Outlines the longer than 50-year career of Joan Didion, an influential American journalist and writer.
The protagonist has lived in times of change and rebellion, documenting events from a social perspective as they happened throughout her career. The documentary is directed by her nephew so don't expect difficult questions, this is a warm and interesting conversation with his Aunt. Grief features later in her life, and her honesty in speaking about death and loss is affecting and memorable. Parts of the documentary make for poignant viewing, but unlikely to interest those unfamiliar with the writer and her work. Holds steady.
