Fifty Shades Darker

Anastasia returns to Christian and comes face to face with several of his past lovers.

Overflowing with meticulously manufactured drama, "Fifty Shades Darker" is an unconventional and unconvincing romantic fantasy. Awkward, stilted and packed with cheesy dialogue, this film suffers from a lack of proper characterisation and a bloated run time. Surprising pops of humour help break up the monotony of the pallid storyline, but the sultry visuals and titillating love scenes are dominated by a distracting soundtrack. An improvement on the source material, but not by much. Submission denied.
