Downhill

A family enjoying a ski holiday in Austria are threatened by an avalanche and they're not the same afterwards.

"Downhill" provides an almost forensic examination of a marriage under pressure. There are fissures just below the surface of the relationship between the husband and wife, and it's excruciating to recognise what's really going on. Enlisting a couple of comedic actors as the leads does the effort a disservice, and we can't help waiting for them to make us laugh... alas this is not a funny story. Support roles do provide some comic gems and the backdrop of the snow-covered Alps is stunning. Uphill battle.
