Detroit

Crime Drama History

During the 1967 Detroit riots, police respond to an alleged sniper attack at the Algiers Motel.

"Detroit" is a visceral and disturbing dramatisation that puts you in the terrified shoes of the persecuted. Due to its drastic nature and violence, questions are raised about how much of the truth has been exaggerated. Nevertheless, it successfully demonstrates the appalling prejudice not only the key motel event, but of this tumultuous time in American history. The film highlights that progression from this significant moment has been very slow, and the emotional response is strong. Each of the characters is given a suitable amount of screen time, and their varying perspectives all compound into a horrifying experience. Black Lives Matter.
