Adrift

A couple must contend against the elements after their boat is badly damaged in a hurricane.

"Adrift" is a slow-moving true story that suffers from its translation to film. This astonishing tale of survival against all odds shouldn't feel like a chore to watch, but its meandering pace and the way the narrative is told is grating. The cast is competent and the endless water surrounding them is shot in a way that brings it to life as a character in its own right. Unfortunately, the overwhelming sense of nothing actually happening makes this movie feel like dead weight. Drift away.
