BFF:A Quiet Passion

Biography Drama

Emily Dickinson, who was posthumously recognized as one of America's most renowned poets, lived a reclusive life within her family's home, having little contact with the world beyond.

Imagine the mannered life of a poet living, for the most part, in seclusion. Time might weigh heavily, tick after interminable tock. That's a problem for the exquisitely filmed "A Quiet Passion" - the life portrayed is lived so quietly it makes for tedious viewing. The voice over of poetry reading brings interest but is counterbalanced by conversations between characters which are laden with pithy witticisms. Hearing quip after unremitting quip becomes stifling. Hushed eloquence.
